Throwing away your responsibility

Responsibility or we call it "bertanggungjawab" in Malay is something we have been learning since standard one. Yes, I do mean standard one! It is one of those millions values or "nilai" we memorized for Pendidikan Moral.

If you ask anyone if they are a responsible person, they will say "Yes, I am a responsible person."But then, if you ask anyone "Are you responsible for this mess etc?", they will say "No!"

So basically, it means all of us are a responsible person but we just THROW the responsibility to others. By THROWING the responsibilities to others, we get credited when everything turns up well, and we can blame others when things don't turn up right. I found this habit of responsibility throwing is annoying.

An simple example can be seen when we are doing assignments. Let's just say student A, B, C and D.

A: I'm not good at this chapter-lah, B you do-lah~
B: Eh C, my english is bad so you do-lah~
C: Eh I not free, must go out "pak to"! D you do please!
D: Eh my mom's uncle's brother's sister's cousin's dog died-lah, A do please!
A: Nonono B you do!
B: Eh I engrisshhhh not good!! C do-lah!
C: My future wife-lah! not free!!! D-lah!
D: Must go pray pray the dog-lah!

(story goes on forever until the final moments before handing of assignment)

Seriously, why should we delay and throw all our responsibilities away when we can get things done faster when we work together?

*wrote this post after I get my pc fixed, somehow my pc just went emo on me =_=" causing a damage of RM45 for reformating and a lot of precious datas....

Obnoxious Rules and Regulations

Every universities, study institution and colleges have their own set of rules and regulations but then some rules just doesn't make sense at all. In my uni, there's a rule where we must wear formal outfits during Monday(Corporate Day). During the first sem, it was still acceptable as things weren't that strict and so constrained but when it this sem, everything went overboard.

Students aren't allowed to go or even step in the uni. To make things worst, the SECURITY GUARD is RUDE and "lan ci". Here's my conversation with the 3rd security guard(fat one) on this Monday afternoon.

While I'm in North Lobby signing up for the UTAR Apprentice Challenge...

Security Guard :HOI!! YOU YOU! Tunggu!(He is asking me to stop and wait)
Me : Yes, bang? (Yes?)
Security Guard : Apasal pakai kasut sport ini? Mr.Lxx kata tak boleh pakai. (Why are you wearing sport shoes? Mr.Lxx said that it is not allowed)
Me :Oh, sorry-lah lain kali saya pakai kasut kulit. (Sorry, will wear formal shoes next time)
Security Guard : Tak boleh, you kena keluar sekarang!!(NO! you need to get out now)
Me :*WTF?!* Beg dan barang aku kat atas kelas-lah~ (My stuffs is in my class)
Security Guard : Siapa bagi you masuk ha? Bagi aku nama dan ID kamu! Aku repot Mr.Lxx
(Who let you in earlier? Give me your name and ID, I will report to Mr.Lxx)
Me : Guard pagi tadi-lah. Ok, aku bagi you nama dan ID. (This morning's guard, OK, I will give you my name and ID)
Me : Bang, janganlah jerit-jerit. (Don't keep yelling please)
Security Guard : Apa jerit jerit you nak kena repot?( What yelling? You want to get report?)
Me : *=_="* Janganlah berlagak sangat, sopan sikit...( Don't be so action, polite abit please)
Security Guard : Aku diberi kuasa! Aku jerit jerit-lah.(I'm given authority, I can shout.)

(was surprised to heard the last sentence)

The security guard then search for a paper for me to write my name and ID, but after like 2 minutes of scavenging for paper, he then ask me more stupid questions.

Security Guard : Mana satu guard bagi you masuk?! Apa nama!? Dan mana ID card kamu?(Which guard let you in? Name of the guard? and where's your ID card?)
Me :*How the fuck i know lah!!!!*Tak tau ler bang (I don't know)
Security Guard : Aku bawa kamu cari satu guard demi satu guard (I bring you to every guard)
Me :*He think I m sooo free to follow him walk around* Ada kelas-lah (I got class)
Security Guard : Bagi nama dan ID! <--high tone (Give me your name and ID)
Me
:Kertas please..~(Paper please~)
Security Guard : *blurred* Tulis kat tangan aku!(Write on my hand!)

Took the pen and i wrote this on his palm "name"- Tan Chee Bai "ID"- 0707444 and he walked away with a "dulan" face believing that was my name and ID and went to report to Mr.Lxx.

I was actually wearing black leathered shoes at that time, just that its not too formal =x even the security guards themselves don't have their identification tag or name on them, how are we suppose to know their name?. Why must a university be strict on such minor issues when there are so many more big issues to be settled? And besides, the guards should not be rude as they get paid from our tuition fees!

There's even an issue I heard the pass few weeks ago where UTAR is taking fees of RM30 per room for rental of rooms for club and society meetings. I was like WTF? We pay the fees and we are charged RM30 for every meeting we have? UTAR trying to rip its students off? I' m not sure if this policy is still on or not for now but I m sure of one thing, stupidity.

Maybe UTAR management went undergo some training and seminars from some Guru and that particular Guru teaches them to be creative and think out-of-the-box. Well, UTAR management think out-of-the-box alright...THE WRONG BOX!

Utar's Corporate Day dress codes

Another out-of-the-box management is Olympia College. They actually fine their students for speaking other dialects. So imagine if each time you accidentally speaks out a word like "Boleh-lah" or some mandarin words...Bang! you are fined RM1. The amount of the fine is small but I don't think so its worth it as we have done nothing wrong.

On the bright side, they have year end party=x

All rules are said to help and encourage us, I believe it does too but if the help and encouragement adds up to more frustration and flames, it does more harm than good. Maybe I am still immature for all these kind of rules set but I do know one thing, it pisses a lot people!

Youth 08 Crew!!

Exhaustion and frustration during the days of the events but by the end of the day, everyone is satisfied as we have been waiting for this since September 2007 and to see it became a success is just WOW!!!! Filled with satisfaction, joy, laughter and stories to be told to friends for years to come, Youth 08 =).

Perfect Valentine's Gift?

Double-posting in a day cause I have not been blogging much lately, too busy with stuffs. Valentine's coming too in about 2 weeks and I think is not too late for us guys to think of what we should get for our special ones. What do girls actually like for that special day? Been thinking "abit" for now and here are some of my gift ideas.

Girls like soft toy right? We can get some cute plushies for them, I think. Or perhaps get them some giant-sized ones to carry on =x(<-- big big ones)
See, soo cute right? I mean the Hello Kitty!

Bread in cupcakes plushies=="

Besides plushies, I saw many would buy jewelry. Those sparkling gifts will surely melt any girls out there but it also does melt down our guys wallet faster. Diamonds are always girls best friend rite? Then, what is the girl's best friend doing to us guys!!!! =(

Next on the list is something pretty interesting I found on Nicolekiss.blogspot.com which are flowers. Yes all girls love em!

Pretty flowers in red and green.

Looks familiar now?

=.= SEe it?
A money bouquet!!! Priceless and pretty XD. hiak hiak hiak

Though of getting a dress but need to know the exact size, if it is too big she goes =___=" and if it is too small she will go ">_____<".
Chocolates are a must, I think as it is the tradition of Valentine's where we give chocolates to the one we loved. We spend a lot of gifts and we try to make this special day something to be remembered but the most important thing is the sincerity that comes from the heart to do all of these =).

Chinese New Year Plants

Flowers such as pussy willow, bamboos and etc. are always associated with Chinese New Year, and with Chinese New Year around the corner, everyone is busy "plant-hunting". So what do people normally "hunt" during this CNY?

1. "Mini-Orange Trees"

I forgot what they called them in chinese but they are some kind of oranges.

A bunch of "mini-oranges", looks like ping pong balls to me=x

2. Pussy Willows/"Mei Hua"

Remember those days when pussy willows are only natural in colour?

Now, it is dyed with variants of colours, from green to pink etc.

Yellow and purple ones.

Pink-dyed pussy willows, most wanted for CNY!

Natural ones =x

3. Bamboo Shoots

Bamboo shoots swirls with red packets decoration =).

Don't really know what is this called, let's assume it is a bamboo shoot...

3. Artifical Flowers

This flowers look really beautiful but there are actually fakes =). Artificial flowers are good, as they don't need much care and last longer.

4. Japan Sakura

Gaining popularity lately, the Japan Sakuras cost "only" RM68 for an imported plant.

Plants are good decorations for Chinese New Year but it requires some care. So think twice before buying them and Happy Plant-Hunting XD.

Expressing yourself as a youth

As a youth myself, I believe everyone of us have brilliant and mind-blowing ideas and thoughts to be shared to others. Ideas for contributing to the society, ideas to make money and even ideas to improve the slightest things we do everyday.

But all this ideas and thoughts are put to waste as it is not presented out, ideas which are not shared to others but kept inside oneself until it is soon forgotten. Why and where does these ideas are left behind? Mainly is because we don't express it out in the right manner or so.

I don't really know what's the most "right" way to express ourselves but there's a few good example I can share about.

1. Blogging
Blogging is a way youths nowadays express themselves. A survey of youth is done, and surprisingly 90% of youths blog!!!! A simple way for us to talk craps, do our daily ramblings, emo posting and all sort of "wu liaw" things but it helps to inspire others to do things they normally didn't think of. A good example is kennysia.com.

2. Participating in any sorts of activities.
Participating in any form of activities in your very own university, college, school and even outside organizations gives you chance to give out your ideas. There are some youths that participated in all this activities and it just changes their life sky-rocketing. Good examples of this competitions are Nescafe Kick-Start, HSBC Entrepreneur Awards and The Firm.

3. Just try it out with friends
Just try out any ideas or thoughts with your closest friends and see what happens next. Just take it as a fun past time activity XD.

We get rejected and laughed at sometimes for the thoughts and ideas we have, but just keep a optimistic attitude and keep trying as that's the spirit we youths should have.

*I'm not promoting anything here, and these are just examples of the few ways I came to know about.

Clubbing Virtually?

On a visit to play Dota in Blitzone, I tried out this game called Highstreet5. It's a dancing game with a twist of virtual reality in it(i suppose) giving your character places to go like 5th Avenue to China Town. Dancing anywhere in the streets with Dj s looping songs all around. There's even clubbing places and "Hot Dancing Chick" in the clubs yo! =_=" There's way lot more of functions which I did not get a chance to try yet, but its truly a game that's given a thumb up.

So I guess technology can make people club virtually from the house? Taking booze in front of the desktop and dancing virtually in a club? =.=" Well.............i guess not... XD, nothing beats reality.

Youth 08 has arrived!!

Youth 08 has finally arrived after a long long wait since September 2007, but it didn't turn out what I expected it to be, there was too many MCA based booths and talks going on(with only after or middle age uncles and aunties went) and many booths just for displaying their "goods".

Gaming Highway have only 3 games going on which is HellsGate, JinOnline and KungFuOnline with a sole purpose of promoting the game, making the so called "Gaming HighWay" into a "Promotional HighWay" but its ok-lah. Other activities like "Battle of the Bands", "Extreme Dancing", "Celebrity Secrets" and etc. were very very nice but the most memorable one was the "Birthday Bash" and "Blogger's Party!"(for the reason we get booze in PWTC =.=" ). Youth 08 was tiring to me but in the end it was satisfactory, seeing the success of it =). For those who miss out Youth 08, make sure to join Youth09 which will be better definitely.

PS: There's much more going on there, especially bad things too, but its best not to write it out loud here XD.
